Sport and elegance around the Südbahnhotel

Tee off at Semmering

On this easy guided cultural hike with Irene Beckmann, the vibrant sporting and leisure history surrounding the Südbahnhotel comes alive. The route leads through the landscape that once served as the stage for the sporting activities of the hotel guests – from skijoring and an indoor swimming pool with a sandy beach to other activities that made Semmering a fashionable spa and sports resort at an early stage.

A particular highlight is a visit to Austria's oldest golf course still playable in its original form. The circular route along gentle terrain leads past breathtaking views, continuing towards the historic toboggan run on the Pinkenkogel, which was specially built for the sports-loving guests of the Südbahnhotel.

Back at the starting point, one can still sense a hint of that refined lifestyle that characterized Semmering. A glance into the historic reception and lobby of the Südbahnhotel evokes that sophisticated world where sport and social life were closely intertwined.
